The Role

The Platform Architect will be tasked with creating and managing the architecture of Clearleap’s products and solutions, including designing and documenting platform architecture, identifying and working with partners and vendors, and communicating the platform architecture to engineering and operations for a fast growing, international company.  This is a diverse role, perfect for the technical leader that likes to be hands on and enjoys a multi-faceted role.

 Responsibilities include:

  • Defining the overall architecture for our platform
  • Integrating the platform architecture with third-party systems
  • Helping to define the platform roadmap
  • Creating, updating, and helping operations to implement all operational & disaster recovery manuals
  • Ensuring consistent approach and use of best practices in design and implementation
  • Working closely with third parties and partners to understand how we might shape the future of Clearleap product strategy based on the direction of third party products and solutions
  • Supporting sales and product teams with Request for Proposal  (RFP) responses
  • Integrating with other key organizations with Clearleap: Product, Engineering, and Operations
Experience / Skills Required

• 5 years of experience of server-side software engineering/architecture, preferably in (but not restricted to) Java
• 5 years of experience in designing, building, and maintaining scalable, highly-available (i.e. 99.999% uptime) distributed web services
• 5 years of experience with the full software development lifecycle
• 5 years of experience in designing/delivering solutions that work “at scale” (more than experience designing internal company apps) and with reliability/availability commensurate with public-facing solutions

Additional Preffered Skills and Experience

• 3 years of hands on experience with at least two of the following technologies: Linux,
Apache, Java, Tomcast, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Cassandra or other NoSQL data
stores-ideally in a high availability configuration
• 3 years of experience of designing, building and maintaining consumer-facing
• 3 years of solid experience building/maintaing Saas/cloud-based platforms
• 3 years of experience with Adapitive Bit Rate (ABR) and video formats and Digital Rights
Management (DRM)
• 3 years of experience working in a Distributed/Cloud-based environment (e.g. Amazon
EC2, GCE, Rackspace, Azure, etc.)
