The Role

This person will inherit ownership of an existing content management and metadata service that delivers millions of video assets to millions of consumers, used by major media brands and MVPDs. The goal will be to make the product even more modular and flexible, support more clients in even more verticals beyond media and entertainment, and build support for emerging technologies, including AR/VR. Some key tactics include:

  • Collaborate with the senior product management to generate strategic planning and product roadmaps to ensure competitive advantage and address marketplace trends
  • Drive requirements reviews with internal teams and customers to ensure clarity and understanding; communicating our product vision effectively
  • Clearly define requirements from ideation and user stories and stories down to JIRA tickets; produce wireframes as needed
  • Be the product owner in sprint planning and daily standups; pay meticulous attention to juggling the backlog; inspire and provide steady direction to engineering
  • Meet with customer teams and customers to understand pain points and help guide roadmap priorities; map releases to customer and market needs
  • May manage individual product backlogs for specific customer implementations, working across Clearleap and app partner teams and backlogs
  • Manage cross-functional projects by providing project leadership and daily management throughout the project from inception to delivery
  • Own and build day-to-day relationships with solution partners and project managers (app developers, players, etc.)
  • Evangelize product direction to internal stakeholders and customers. Identify commonalities or gaps across stakeholders and proactively drive toward alignment
  • Represent Clearleap in key industry standards groups
  • With support from engineering, drive API documentation and SDK creation as required for partner/eco-system interoperability
  • Empower customer implementation teams and reseller partners through guidance and training
  • Keep content up-to-date in areas of product ownership
  • Develop hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products & services and maintain analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses in areas of ownership
  • Provide guidance during customer (and prospective customer) visits and during the RFP process as the functional and feature expert
Experience / Skills Required
Additional Preffered Skills and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree a plus
  • 3-5 years of product management experience or similar experience
  • Experience with content management, metadata management, and data-driven publishing is critical
  • Understanding of the video content formats and encoding ecosystem, including video formats and digital rights management
  • Passion for the digital video market with solid understanding of the streaming video ecosystem
  • Familiarity with CDNs, online advertising, and analytics systems
  • Excellent written, verbal and social skills and ability to interact with all levels and functions in an organization (engineers, user experience designers, customers, etc.)
  • Able to work equally effectively with customers, engineers and peers to drive direction on product requirements and decisions
  • Ability to juggle and execute on multiple priorities and customer interests while aligning with Clearleap’s overall strategic direction
  • Results driven, attention to detail and follow-through
  • Proven ability to successfully kick-start new initiatives and to drive complex issues through analysis and resolution.
  • Strong analytic skills and ability to evaluate alternatives and make compelling recommendations based on solid business case analysis.

  • Strong technical knowledge is a plus
  • UX knowledge is a plus
  • An interest in, e.g., a minor in college, in library sciences or other field where taxonomies are critical
  • Personal consumer of OTT services, either SVOD or AVOD
  • Knowledge of what SVOD, AVOD, TVOD, and OTT mean and how each best monetizes content in a given vertical
