The Role

As a Product Manager, you will bridge technical and business worlds, zooming in to design and build upon our platform with creative engineers, including app development partners, and zooming out to evangelize the product vision with Sales, Marketing, Customers and Customer Delivery teams. You have a bias for action and can break down complex problems into steps that drive product development, while collaborating with other product owners to do so. You will align Clearleap platform releases with customer and business priorities, help guide individual customers launch, and drive continuous innovate for their streaming services.

Areas of Product Ownership:
This position reports to a Sr. Director of Product, and has ownership over two critical product functions:

  • Live streaming of events across multiple verticals, including sports
  • Creation and management of linear digital streams

Key Responsibilities:
This person will inherit an existing live/linear streaming platform that has delivered live events and channels to millions of users. The goal will be to make this platform even more extensible, build out new workflows to support a growing number of use cases, both within and outside media, entertainment, and sports, and guide both the strategic and tactical integrations of key IBM and third-party services, including player technology, new metadata structures, and emerging technologies, including VR/AR. Some key tactics include:

  • Collaborate with the senior product management to generate strategic planning and product roadmaps to ensure competitive advantage and address marketplace trends
  • Drive requirements reviews with internal teams and customers to ensure clarity and understanding; communicating our product vision effectively
  • Clearly define requirements from ideation and user stories and stories down to JIRA tickets; produce wireframes as needed
  • Be the product owner in sprint planning and daily standups; pay meticulous attention to juggling the backlog; inspire and provide steady direction to engineering
  • Meet with customer teams and customers to understand pain points and help guide roadmap priorities; map releases to customer and market needs
  • May manage individual product backlogs for specific customer implementations, working across Clearleap and app partner teams and backlogs
  • Manage cross-functional projects by providing project leadership and daily management throughout the project from inception to delivery
  • Own and build day-to-day relationships with solution partners and project managers (app developers, players, etc.)
  • Evangelize product direction to internal stakeholders and customers. Identify commonalities or gaps across stakeholders and proactively drive toward alignment
  • Represent IBM in key industry standards groups
  • With support from engineering, drive API documentation and SDK creation as required for partner/eco-system interoperability
  • Empower customer implementation teams and reseller partners through guidance and training
  • Keep content up-to-date in areas of product ownership
  • Develop hands-on, in-depth knowledge of competitive products & services and maintain analysis of competitive strengths and weaknesses in areas of ownership
  • Provide guidance during customer (and prospective customer) visits and during the RFP process as the functional and feature expert

  • Strong analytic skills and ability to evaluate alternatives and make compelling recommendations based on solid business case analysis
