Clearleap Launching C3 Solution Enabling Programmers To Monetize TV and Online Content

Increased Ad Revenue for Content Providers via Quick, Scalable Content Delivery and High-Quality File Output

Duluth, Ga.— June 13, 2012—Clearleap, the leading provider of IP-based video solutions for the television industry, today announced a solution for programmers that will help them more easily monetize content and take advantage of the Nielsen C3 ratings system for both online and VOD content.  The ClearFlow media services solution quickly and cost-effectively processes digital assets, speeding the delivery of on demand content to consumers.

ClearFlow represents a new choice and means for programmers to capture the revenue upside from C3.

The Clearleap platform is a completely terrestrial, all-IP network, which cost-effectively packages and distributes content from programmers to TV operators, as the demands placed on content distribution explode.  The Nielsen C3 ratings system measures the average commercial minutes viewed during a broadcast and includes three days’ worth of digital video recorder (DVR), video on demand (VOD) and Internet playback data. As more consumers turn to on demand viewing for their TV content, programmers want to make that content available as soon as possible. This allows more time within the 72-hour C3 window for ad viewing to be tracked, correlating directly to increased ad revenue. Clearleap speeds this turnaround process in a way not previously available.

“Nielsen’s ratings have been critical to the development of television advertising,” said Brett Sappington, Director of Research, Parks Associates. “With the growth of multiscreen services, programmers will need solutions that allow them to better monetize VOD and deliver ad-supported content to multiple platforms quickly and easily.”

“With so many viewing options available today, the C3 ratings system is rapidly becoming a critical component in measuring ratings and viewing habits,” said Clearleap CEO Braxton Jarratt. “Clearleap is helping programmers take advantage of this profit potential with an easy-to-use, cost-effective service, and it is available today. We simplify and take the pain out of a perfect storm for operations:  more hours of content, going to more places in more formats, all demanding a quicker turn-around time.

ClearFlow media services with C3 support offers the following features and benefits:

  • Archival quality capture maximizes output quality and enables programs only have to be recorded and distributed once
  • Fast, scalable handling of content (volume of content, complete range of formats, and quick turnaround)
  • Comprehensive tools for meta-data normalization and customization
  • Full, up-to-date workflow toolset, in the cloud, including the ability to mark and trim content
  • Reliable, low cost IP distribution — avoids the inefficiencies, timing, and costs of a one-to-many, satellite infrastructure

Capture, Transcode and Propagate

For linear or live television capture, the Clearleap system can record the actual broadcast stream at the uplink facility.   This enables the creation of a high bitrate mezzanine file from an uncompressed video source ensuring the highest video quality.   Content can be trimmed as needed at the time of ingest, ensuring the ads designated to a specific program are included in the distribution of that program.

Clearleap offers programmers a full range of options for their C3 requirements to handle a nearly unlimited number of multiscreen applications. The solution supports HD-SDI inputs of allowing for outputs of MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 SD and HD broadcast quality formats, as well as adaptive bitrate streaming such as Apple HTTP Live Streaming. Clearleap can assign transcoding jobs over several video processors, accommodating simultaneous transcoding of various formats.
